Machine Learning for Biology

This weekly seminar brings together theoreticians and biologists on the topic of machine learning for biological data. In recent years, biologists have collected increasingly complex and massive data, and their interpretation is ever more challenging. In parallel, machine learning techniques have seen an unprecedented development and is now turning upside down the way scientists and engineers work with data.The seminar reaches the double objective of (i) bringing machine learning techniques to biologists (with lectures and tutorials in Python) and  (ii) helping theoreticians realize the kind of data are relevant to analyze and their specific features.

The sessions review the different existing machine learning techniques and algorithms, and applies the techniques on data provided by the biologists in the seminar.

Installing python: we recommend installing python 2.7 with anaconda (download it here). We shall consider that this install is available during the tutorial sessions.
